I read this book years ago, but I still remember my favorite line in the book. When the Davina McCall-ish presenter of the Big Brother-ish show says:

"not to say that it was a good thing for her to get stabbed in the head, in no way did she deserve to have such a pants thing happen to her..."

I just love the word "pants." Makes me laugh every time.

Other things from this Saturday (mostly from last night but it was technically this morning):

• a customer thought I was a Filipina
• another customer that I hadn't seen since last year didn't recognize me, and said I looked really different and more "grown up."
• I finally tried the McDonald's Salad Marinade breakfast sandwich that I'd been curious about. It was gross, as expected.

I asked Big Sayang (my friend's older son, he's five now) to draw me a picture, and he didn't even hesitate in drawing this one. Like most new mothers, my friend had big dreams of letting her son be his own person, and she absolutely would not shove any male stereotypes onto him. But as soon as he could point, he pointed at cars. When they visited me here in Tokyo, he just loved to watch the big construction sites around my neighborhood. His favorite movie is "Cars." Of course, his favorite character is Lightning McQueen.
