Yeah, WH. Life in America just ain't cheap, and Higher Education really cost a pretty penny. You'll be o.k.
Where's that money tree when you need it? Oh to have been born rich - am facing similar situation...

I feel your pain... I'll be transfering to San Diego in six months and I don't have a single penny...

Mexibot, what are we going to do?????

I need to GET IN somewhere first though.
You didn't even comment on my Japanese in your last post... : (
Yeah what was that? I thought it was fireworks or something. How did you type all that up? Very impressive

You will get it.

Now, let's worry about the money...

there are some stars in the LA sky, not many though. There are lots where I am, it's pretty cool.
Tomoko? That's where you went, I was looking for you!

Hey, shake the trees as hard as you can: that is what we parents of undergrads are being told. There's Federal money to be had, state money, hit the finanical aid offices of the universiities you are targeting to ask 'What can you offer?' If your mother is working for a large real estate firm, they might have some sort of endowment,,perhaps onnly $500 or so a year, but hey, that amount would probably cover your books. Etc., etc. Leave no stone-potenial source unturned.

Yea it's weird to apply for financial for school you may not even get accepted to, but you should because you never know which ones will let you in!

Good luck, I am sure you will be accepted to your place of choice though.

Financial problems are another issue however, the states are all cutting funding from universities these days so I'm afraid it's going effect financial aid and tuition... :(
Exactly. But it's hard work all over again, and a little annoying when you KNOW you're only going to one school, but you have to do all these forms and pay for transcripts etc. for all the schools.

I really don't remember it being this difficult as an undergrad. Then again, it was over ten years ago, and I did some stupid things. I ended up working my ass off waitressing etc., when there were much easier options. At least I got fed though.
I KNOW! Really, fune-chan, what are we going to do? We'll just have to make it happen, like our mamas and their mamas before them.

I don't know about you, but I know that I'm not one of those people who get breaks. I just have to work my ass off for everything. It's a little unfair, but I guess it got easier once I accepted that fact.

Couple of other thoughts: know you and your father aren't exactly chums, but he's a psychiatrist, and if he belongs to a professional association, likewise your mother, et. al. Rotary, Elks, Lions too.

Shake that tree!
