Bar Flower, the best book ever

Comments

Interesting, it sounds a little like your own life :)
LOL, not MY life.
How is it different then YOUR life? I really want to know before I go out and buy the book.
Well, obviously you don't have to buy the book. But it is a very good read.

The girl in the book is American, I'm only part American, plus I grew up in Japan. I was never wide-eyed and in awe of this country like she was. To name but a few differences!

I see that YOUR book is coming along nicely ;)

Just knowing you from your blog I already knew these differences but does the book tell "from the authors viewpoint" what it is like being a hostess?

Yes my "book" is coming along. Getting comments from you helps me write it so PLEEEASE COMMENT!!!!!

BTW - What time is it there?

Doc

it's 4pm, I'm in NYC, in the middle of a hair dying disaster!!!!
Did you publish a book? If not, and pardon me for knowing so little, you really should write one. All of your blog posts sound like mini adventures that could fit well into a tv show or movie.
I went to the bookstore to pick it up, but they didn't have a copy! Alas, I shall have to order it online. I also wanted to pick up The Life Before Her Eyes, but they also did not have that. Alas, I ended up with a copy of Zoetrope All Story instead, which I am quite pleased with.
I just realized I used "alas" twice. This bothers me because I am crazy. That is all. :P
It did just come out, so they're still in transit it seems. A lot of the book stores said that it hasn't arrived yet. Get more organized, book stores!

I hadn't heard of those other two books, but they look good too. This blog is turning into a book club!
Never published a book. Translated one though. YOU should write a book! You should have an action figure of yourself anyway. With glasses.
Hahaha! I'll have to get back to you on that figure, lol. Hmm. Maybe I'll make it a project, out of your idea...making figures can't be too difficult...
just ordered my copy on amazon!
You kick ass! Please tell me what you think of it.
I'd buy your action figure. And put it up on my wall somewhere!

Does it say Decandedly on the cover? I am not sure what that means. I guess it's some sort of slag word?

decadently... adjective implying decadence: over-indulgence and (moral) deterioration :p really great word to use in regards to the author's hostessing experience i would say
moral deterioration, yeah. Thank god she could see through the drunken haze and knew when to quit too. Maybe I just like stories about people who go out there, but KNOW WHEN TO QUIT.

Ah...not to be rude boys and girls...I do know what decadently means. That's not what it looks like on the image of the book. It looks like how I spelt it above. Which is why i was a little confused. i couldn't tell if it was due to some artifact of the image loss of quality or if it was some maga-like word i was ignorant of. take a look even at the larger image of it on amazon.

Either way it still looks interesting but I was just curious about the funny word. Words interest me and their etymology is often interesting. Like Vanilla...look it up. Will change your perception of vanilla ice-cream forever!

Just looked it up. Wow, vanilla's named after where life comes from. It might now be my favorite flavor!

What do you think decandedly would mean? The opposite of candid? Full of Sh**? That's kind of what hostessing's all about.

I like vanilla too :)

I dunno what it would mean. i thought it could be anything from a badly printed word on the cover, which would be funny but suck for your friend... to maybe it wasa japanimation type word mangle. A mixture of decanted and candid?

Straining the shit out of the profession? :)

Beats me.
