Last night Electra said,
"I suntanned this morning."
By the way, it's winter here in Tokyo. I asked her what the hell she was talking about, it's freezing ass cold every morning, I know because I have to go out in it to catch the train for work. She said "no, it was warm around 11:00." Obviously our ideas of what "morning" is differ.
"You know we don't get sun, so it's good for us to sit out in it whenever we can."
I thought, you know what, she's right. So I sat out on my balcony just now. It was nice and sunny, if a little cold. Except I kept feeling like the people in the apartment across the way were staring at me. The building has reflective windows so who knows what's going on inside.
Then Baldy called me, and we're doing our regular Saturday routine of meeting up at the Starbucks and talking shit until one of us has to do something.
Seeya.
Ichihashi was finally caught. It only took police almost three years.
He somehow managed to have a job and get lots of plastic surgery, despite being one of the most wanted men in the country.
This picture shows that he was starting to look a little Michael Jackson-ish (taken around midnight last night while being brought to Chiba police from a ferry port in Osaka, he was on his way to Okinawa apparently).
He's the guy who killed the 22-year old British English teacher, buried her in an unused bathtub on his porch, then ran away shoe-less when eight cops came to arrest him.
Just got this email from my mama:
I sent you coffee and birthday card. I enclosed ichimanen [10,000yen]. Not much but you can buy some winter underwear or something. Be happy. Love you, Mother
And this was a line in an email from Tik (in reference to the fact that I might be over-watering the giant cactus from Fuckwater and killing it):
I don't think Fuckwater's giant penis (cactus needs) water twice a week. I'd do that every two weeks and even then, that might be too much. Don't kill it, its amazing.
Laughing my pants off. Going to work now.
I hate the Korean. I hate him with a passion, he makes me want to throw up, he makes my skin crawl, I can't STAND him, and I want him to disappear.
He is disgusting.
I've cleaned my room, but haven't done the laundry yet. That will have to wait until Tuesday.
Goodnight, y'all.
Whoa. Remember this guy?
oh my god!
vox I missed you!!!!!
So, what's new. For one thing, little Uki's had quite a drama and now she's here sleeping on the top bunk, going back and forth to the immigration office, paying a severe price for oversleeping the night before her flight and the day before her visa ran out.
Working what basically amounts to two jobs (one full time and one part time and one freelance) is pretty much kicking my sorry ass, but I'm getting more used to it. I think I'll deal with it alright, even though I have two black hole days when I'm working 18 hours, during which I can't really answer my phone, talk to friends, nap, or even [gasp] check the email or vox (!!!!!).
Today was stressful because I woke up and the TV had no signal and the internet didn't work, plus the bathroom sink was clogged and I had gotten stuck in the elevator the night before (very scary, Uki saved me. I screamed and cried and made a big fuss and at one point even ordered her to "go get the buff guy from next door," not quite sure where that thought came from). So I argued with the crazy landlord multiple times, and then finally all the above problems were fixed.
I even managed to get SOME freelance work done.
And then Uki and I left the house (me to work, her to meet a friend).
Then I came home just now, to find myself completely locked out of the house with the key missing from the ingenious (not!) hiding place I had hidden it. I immediately assumed the worst. Oh my god, somebody took my key, stole my valuables, stole Uki's valuables too because I was a dumbass, and to top it off I'm stuck outside and it's raining, plus it's 1am so I can't call my landlord.
Well I called my landlord, for the tenth time that day, and he actually answered. Earlier I was angry and rude, then I was grateful and happy, well this time I was on the verge of tears and begging.
Long story short, I'm back in my apartment, and nobody had in fact stolen my key.
And now I'm emotionally and physically exhausted and ready for bed.
Goodnight boys and girls, it's good to be back in Voxland, because this is where I belong.
All this stress can't be good for my skin.

My new place is BEAUTIFUL! I jumped up and down on a high for five minutes when I finally half moved in!
But then, I realized that it was missing the washing machine I was promised. So I just sent off an email, but since the landlord has two personalities, and his evil personality comes out when he has to actually do work, I'm not sure how that's going to go. I either want a washing machine, or I want to move into a room with a washing machine, or I want my big fat set utilities fee reduced. It's not fair that I have to pay the same utilities fee AND use the laundromat when the dude next door gets to have his own washing machine while paying the same utilities fee.
and it's slightly annoying that the internet isn't wireless, but it's not a tragedy.
Other then that though, this place is AWESOME!
Back to work tonight. This totally blows.
Things to look forward to next week:
- moving! Reconsidered it a little bit because the place is expensive and not the BEST place ever, but then I came back to this capsule room and decided that yes, I am definitely taking the room.
- lasik eye surgery! This time next week, I won't need my glasses anymore.
- last week of semi-freedom! From the week after, I'll have to wake up early and take the commuter train to the theme park job. Woohoo...
- I think that my friend is coming back from her vacation, but not sure.
Here's something I figured out over the five day weekend. The Empire Strikes Back is definitely the best Star Wars film.
